How to Play Cash for Life in New Jersey
New Jersey Cash for Life is a simple, fast game to play. With daily drawings, you can find out if you're a winner within 24 hours of purchasing your ticket! Cash for Life drawings take place at 9:00 PM, and you can purchase tickets right up to 8:45 PM. Here's the comprehensive guide to playing NJ Cash for Life…
Select your numbers
There are two ways to select your numbers in Cash for Life. You can manually mark five numbers from 1 to 60, and one Cash Ball number from 1 to 4 on your playslip, or alternatively, you can mark the Quick Pick box. Opting for a Quick Pick means the store's lottery terminal will randomly select your numbers for you.
Multi Draw: How many draws will you play?
The Multi Draw section of your playslip allows you to play your numbers in up to 28 drawings (with one draw per day, that's 28 days' worth of games). Leave blank if you only want to play the one game.
New Jersey Cash for Life Doubler
Cash for Life is played across a number of states, but only New Jersey offers the Doubler add-on! Double the value of any non-annuity prizes you win, for just $1 extra per play.
Pay for your tickets
Cash for Life tickets cost $2, or $3 if you're using the Doubler add-on. Hand your playslip to the cashier, make the payment, and they'll provide you your ticket.
Play it Again!
If you want to play the same ticket again, you can take it to any authorized retailer and ask to "play it again". Provided it was issued in the past 30 days, you'll be issued an identical ticket for the next applicable drawing, for the same cost.
Playing in other states
Cash for Life is played in a number of other states, and the core rules and prizes are the same. However, some aspects like the cut-off time for ticket sales and multi-draw options may be different, and only New Jersey has the Doubler add-on. If you do play outside New Jersey and win a prize, you’ll also have to claim your money in the same jurisdiction.
How to Win
To win the jackpot, you must match all five main numbers, along with the Cash Ball – this will land you $1,000 per day, for the rest of your life. If you get all the main numbers but not the Cash Ball, you've won the runner-up prize of $1,000 per week for life. There are seven other prize tiers, which you can read all about on our Odds and Prizes page.
